Joshua Rivera is the General Counsel of Blockchain Capital. Joshua is an expert in the legal and regulatory issues attending various aspects of the crypto industry including token protocols, DeFi, DAOs, NFTs and digital asset commodities and securities, and he has extensive experience analyzing the industry.

Before joining Blockchain Capital, Joshua worked as a senior associate at Cooley LLP where he was part of the firm’s cryptocurrency and blockchain practice counselling exchanges, investors and blockchain developers. While at Cooley, he also advised traditional venture capital firms, startup companies and investment banks on a broad array of business transactions, including private financings, public offerings and ongoing public company regulatory compliance.

Prior to Cooley, Joshua worked as an associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP where he advised companies and financial institutions on various commercial matters including capital markets offerings, credit financings, mergers and acquisitions, asset management transactions and real estate ventures

Joshua received a J.D. cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.S. of Business Administration, with a second major in Philosophy, with the highest distinction from the University of North Carolina, at Chapel Hill.
