Alan has a background in mechatronics engineering, having started his career in 2007 designing control systems for power plants at ABB as a design engineer and later team leader. From there he followed with an MBA in 2011 focused on Lean Product and Process Development, working with VW, Visteon, Rollce Royce, among others. .
Since 2014 he holds a PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, and was a visiting researcher at Stanford University and Potsdam Universitat. His work was focused on human-centered product, service and business model innovation following the principles and tools of Design Thinking. Within this frame he studied and worked with 18 large firms, and collaborated with a dozen early-stage startups, some of which he is a co-founder.In 2013 Alan founded Spark Labs, an association between EPFL and ETH Zurich with the goal to educate the innovation leaders of today and tomorrow through the principles of Design Thinking and build a community of like minded experts and alumni.
After a few years consulting Alan joined AGCS in May 2016, leading the Central and Eastern Europe innovation initiative.
His is the Blockchain lead for AGCS and the Insurtech subject matter expert.
