Keynote: Building trust through innovation : Carrefour’s blockchain use case on food traceability

With a multiformat network of 12,000 stores in  over 30 countries, Carrefour Group is one of the world’s leading food retailers. Carrefour serves 105 million customers worldwide, and has more than 380,000 employees who contribute to making Carrefour the world leader in the food transition for all, offering quality food every day, accessible everywhere and at a reasonable price.

One of the “Act For Food” initiative concerns food traceability. Carrefour’s customers, by flashing a QRCode on the product, have a direct access to traceability data, ensuring the origin and the qualities of the product in their hands.

Emmanuel Delerm is the blockchain programme director within Carrefour, from the experimentation phase up to the first European blockchains in productive use, both for private labeled product early 2018, and later, in 2019 and with Nestlé, for a national brand.

He will share his vision on building trust with the consumer through blockchain usage.

The Bank is dead! Long live the Bank! How can banks survive the changing financial landscape?

Today, fintech services and innovative payment solutions are becoming a more and more important part of our everyday lives. Traditional banks are too slow to implement modern technological solutions and people prefer using innovative and sometimes superior products created by emerging fintech companies. Banks are responsible for the propriety of financial operations, which in the classic implementation of this process costs a lot of money – and this burden ultimately is passed to customers. To stay afloat amidst the rapidly changing sea of modern finance, traditional banks must change and learn to work in a beneficial  partnership with rising fintech startups. In his speech, Andrew Zimine will talk about how banks need to change and what they need to do to survive.

Blockchain for green energy

In a world where the presence of renewable energy is increasing significantly, new technologies will have a very remarkable role.

The blockchain is set to revolutionize the electric power market. The current renewable energy certification process is complex and time consuming.

By using this technology, Iberdrola has been able to develop a proof of concept to guarantee in real time that the energy supplied and consumed is 100% renewable, making the process more efficient and transparent.

During the talk, we will walk you through the details of the project.

Building your blockchain advantage – Fresh insights on how to create value, scale fast and open new markets

As blockchain adoption continues to gather momentum, organizations must approach their blockchain strategies with the same rigor and commitment as any other new and transformative strategies. They can’t just fall back on prototypes alone. They need to build a robust business case for blockchain that includes a fair incentive model to attract all the partners required for the success of their networks. New governance models can help scale the network quickly and before others do. Monetization strategies will be crucial to generate and recoup investment for the build out of the technology platform and other infrastructure.
