Frans Kempen is the blockchain lead for Supply Chain Services in IBM Netherlands. He is also hands-on managing 2 blockchain delivery programs in the Supply Chain industry. Frans has a MSc degree in Civil Engineering and in Business Economics. After starting at Unilever in Marketing Management, he has worked for KPN and British Telecom in IT and focussed on implementing new technologies and IT Services to create new business models. Examples are developing the first free ISP at KPN and building a cloud services platform at British Telecom.
In 2006, Frans joined IBM and was responsible for the Publishing and Communication industry. From 2010 onwards, he has been leading the Microsoft practise at IBM.
Since 2015, Frans has a keen interest in Distributed Ledger Technology and the related cryptocurrencies. He has set up the IBM Netherlands blockchain practise to develop blockchain-based solutions for IBM enterprise clients. Activities are: moderating Design Thinking Workshops, defining business process Use Cases, leading agile scrum development teams and building integration with existing IT systems. The result is a Blockchain Minimal Viable Product and then will be scaled up, brought live and into a DevOps steady State.
Frans brings to the table a deep-rooted understanding of IT and Blockchain technology and hands-on business experience.
